Once a manufacturer joins AFPSA, they are free to use all of the services provided - rate quotations, arranging of shipments, tracing, handling of claims, consultation on transportation issues. Typically a member would contact AFPSA to request a rate to a particular destination. We would suggest the cost of various modes of transportation to move the product. Once the member accepts the rate and mode of transportation, they may tender their shipment to the Association. AFPSA becomes the shipper of record and arranges for a carrier to move the product. We invoice the member the exact freight cost plus an upcharge as set by the Board of Directors. Some shipments require several transportation services- we arrange and pay for each service - the member receives one invoice for the complete move. In many instances one invoice may include several shipments. Fuel Surcharge                                                           As a service to our members we have developed a rate guide for your convenience.  Although we endeavor to keep the rates on our site as current as possible and identify when the last update occurred , please keep in mind they should only be used as a guideline.  Fuel surcharges are included in container and intermodal rates but must be added to truck rates.  Fuel Surcharge is currently at 8%.
